There are certain exercises that you can use to stimulate your brain and get your memory back in gear when you feel as though your memory is beginning to slip.

Reading is one of the simplest methods because it requires a good deal of concentration. Your memory function absolutely needs concentration. To stimulate your memory in a very positive way, take a few minutes out of each day to read.

You don't have to read a book. For example, if you are more interested in news, reading the newspaper during your lunch break is an ideal solution. You'll remember the news stories that your spouse or colleagues might talk to you about, you'll feel confident having read the headline and story and you'll be then able to commit it to memory.

Maybe news doesn't grab your attention and you're more interested in sports. Could you Imagine reading the scores of the games the night before and then being able to recite each one from memory the next morning? This has two benefits: not only does it feed your craving for sports, but it also stimulates your memory in a way that's really appealing to you.

Reading to your children is another fun way to get reading into your memory exercise plan. First of all, children love this because it allows them a few special moments with their parents and entertains them at the same time. Secondly, while you are reading to them, you get an added bonus since it also stimulates their memory. Because they enjoy the images and words in the book, they want to commit it to memory. It then becomes a wonderful association of connecting with you and learning.

When you read something that engages you it is almost effortless and you boost your memory at the same time. Furthermore, when you boost your memory you also boosts your knowledge database and we can never have a big enough database.
